When you join a new community you get those email that are asking you to join or buy their product. You've never seen their names before and they want you to jump on board.
I really like to get to know people. One of the best things about MLM is that you don't have to work with everyone that comes along. You get to pick the people you work with. So why would you send and email asking someone to sign up today to make millions of dollar. Another hoot! The hype! You can make millions of dollar next week. Get real! You don't know me or my skill or lack of skill. If I buy into the hype chances are I know very little about his industry or profession (as I like to think of it).
Sometimes you have to slow down to speed up. I have learned that taking the time to get to know someone is the best way to build a business. I spent 3 hours at a networking event and walked out with 15 business cards. Some I just wanted to thank them for taking time to talk with me and others were interested in the service I offered. I never spoke about the business of it. There was a gentlemen who walked up and asked me for a business card and showed me the pile he had collected. You know they went into the shoe box never to be touched again. How could he contact any of them? He didn't know anything about them. Just call and ask them to use your product or service. How do you start that conversation? I got your business card and WHAT?
I really enjoy meeting people and finding out about them. Getting their permission to contact them if they are interested or just to say thank you. The value of that is behond measure.
I think SLOWING down to go FASTER is the best business decision I ever made. I have also created some really great friends and contacts. Also some great customers.
What are some of your experiences in this area? I would enjoy hearing from you as I am starting to put together a talk on Relationship Marketing. I appreciate your input and look forward to getting to know you.
This friend of yours Linda really intrigues me. It is a special skill to turn an invite to join in an MLM into a sign-up at your own business. If I could learn that, a lot of my problems would be solved. I treat the Internet as a meeting place and try to be myself in every respect. If you are open and up front with people you will end up making many meaningful relationships. There is a saying in German: The way you shout into the forest, that's the way the Echo will come back. And over my life experience I have found that to be so true.
